Rockland County Physical Therapist Wins International Business Genius Award

Rarely do small Businesses in Rockland County get recognized on a global scale at all, let alone for their business success, that type of recognition is usually reserved for the huge companies on Madison Avenue.  But that is just what happened at an International Business Conference in Cleveland, Ohio in July.

David Stedjan, owner of Empire Sports Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in Valley Cottage, NY, was awarded the prestigious “Business Genius Award” in honor of the company’s growth despite almost insurmountable odds.

Since David opened Empire Sports Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in January 2018, the company has grown in number of happy clients, staff, and reputation in the community despite a car crashing into the building in October of 2019 and the almost impossible task of surviving in a hands-on, people to people contact business during the COVID shutdown.

Despite all the challenges, David has been able to maintain the principles that made him start Empire Sports Physical Therapy that center on patient care above all.  By maintaining the importance on patient care, the number of people seeking physical therapy from David’s company have allowed him to double his staff “for the patient who sees us”, David says.  He continues, “we add staff for the purpose of making it a better experience for our patient, not to get big for the sake of being big”.

Empire Sports Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation has added staff that is incomparable in the industry to support the demand in a time when hiring has been the challenge of most businesses by seeking people who love taking care of people who struggle to do their favorite activities and remain healthy.

Simon Godding of PG Media, an international advertising and business consulting company, said of David, “This award is richly deserved, as David has gone about his business in a way that is exemplary in the community with resilience that is unmatched and just a humbleness that we almost never see, and I am truly honored to know him and give him this award as our 2023 Business Genius.”
